Ballyhaunis Chamber Gala Dinner Dance

The dinner dance took place on Saturday 28th January at Knock House Hotel. The evening was a great success with a huge turnout this year.

The evening started with a punch & canapé reception where people met, chatted and had a chance to buy raffle tickets. Everyone then moved through to the dining room where a short speech by Alison McDermott, Chamber President, who thanked everyone for their help with events throughout 2011 and is looking forward to working with everyone in 2012.

The six course meal was wonderful and consisted of chicken spring rolls on a bed of soft noodles, followed by vegetable soup, a palette quenching raspberry sorbet. For the main course we had a choice between Crispy half duckling with a red berry jus, roast rib of beef with a red wine, wild mushroom and tarragon jus, seared fillet of Hake topped with black tiger prawns in garlic butter or vegetable Korma perfumed with coconut & tomato with Basmati rice and crispy poppadum’s. All were served with roasted root vegetables & creamy mashed potatoes. After the main course a homemade orange & cardamom Panna Cotta with vanilla was served with a poppy seed biscuit & a lime syrup.

When the tea and coffee was served a table quiz was played with some funny dingbats. The winning table received a magnum of sparkling wine.

The raffle was then drawn and about a dozen prizes were given out to the winners, all provided by businesses in Ballyhaunis and Knock House Hotel.

Once everybody's food had settled we meandered downstairs for the evening entertainment. TJ Fallen provided live music and people got up to dance. The live music was followed by a disco.

The evening was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who came and helped out with the event.
